February 2, Thursday (7 pm) (GROUNDHOG DAY!) - The first SSJC (Y-W) Chapter meeting in 2017 took place at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Boardman. Fr. George Gage was the host pastor. Everyone was asked to bring a dessert item. Coffee and Tea were provided. Historic Accomplishments: 1. Ratified the new Constitution, 2. Nominated members to be elected as Officers and Trustees (based on the newly ratified Constitution), 3. Set a future date for the election of the 4 Officers and 3 Trustees. Newly Elected President will need to choose a Chaplain.
February 15, Wednesday (7:00- 8:30 PM) at St. Maron Church in Youngstown. Host Pastor: Chorbishop Michael Kail. Facilitators:Â Ray Nakley & Rich Mattiussi. Â Purpose:Â Â Historic first Elections. The meeting also included a Maronite Ramsho (Vespers) Prayer Service, Brief Business Meeting , Dues Collection and Fellowship (great Lebanese food too!). March 23, Thursday â€“ (7:30 â€“ 10pm). The four Officers met at Ray Nakley's home for discussion concerning their respective roles in the upcoming Spotlight episode at the CTNY studio in April.Â Meeting also included prayer, fellowship, and some excellent food!
April 27, Thursday at 3:00 p.m. The four officers went to the CTNY Recording Studio located in Canfield (9531 Akron-Canfield Rd., Canfield 44406) to tape an episode on â€œCatholic â€“ Orthodox Dialogueâ€ for the Ecumenical TV Show called Spotlight. Fr James Korda was the host and Brother Dominic Calabro (long time SSJC member) was the cameraman. The four officers were: Fr. Dan Rohan, Socrates Kolitsos, Ray Nakley and Rich Mattiussi.
June 19-22, 2017,Orientale Lumen XXI Conference in Washington, D.C., Theme: â€œChieti and Crete: Two Historical Eventsâ€ Sponsored by the OL Foundation, Nat. SSJC, ECP and ECJ which is all under the direction and oversight of Mr. Jack Figel (Nat. Pres. SSJC).

October 13-14, Friday and Saturday â€“ Notre Dame College (Ohio) presented the annual Eleanor Malburg Eastern Churches Seminar. The conference theme: â€œOvershadowed by the Spirit: Saints Known and Unknown.â€ SSJC Chapter member and Secretary Ray Nakley attended the event on Saturday.

November 18, Saturday, (10:00AM - 12Noon) Rich Mattiussi, Ray Nakley, Lori Demiduk and Fr. John Schmidt traveled to SS Cyril & Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh for the initial meeting of the new Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of St. John Chrysostom. About a dozen people were in attendance with half being Eastern Catholic or Orthodox clergy. Fr. Robert Popichak from Holy Ghost Ukranian Orthodox Church in Slickville, Pa., led the assembly in an ecumenical Moleben to the Holy Spirit prayer service in the seminary chapel. Steve Puluka, Pittsburgh Chapter SSJC convener then introduced special guest speaker Mr. Jack Figel, National President of SSJC, Founder of Oriental Lumen International Ecumenical Conference, Executive Producer of Orientale Lumen TeleVision, Publisher of Eastern Christian Publications and Eastern Churches Journal and, most importantly, a Pittsburgh Native. Jack proceeded to give a comprehensive presentation of the historic and most recent ecumenical dialogue efforts at the patriarchal and papal level.
